Where Passion Meets Impact: Jennifer Cook’s Story

Jennifer brings both professional expertise and a deep passion for community to Impact Giving. Originally from Connecticut, she raised her two sons just outside of New York City before making her way to California over a decade ago to launch a wealth management firm. Today, she serves as Director of Client Relationships and Business Management for Capital Group Private Client Services.
Now based in Corona del Mar with her husband, Jennifer has embraced the Southern California lifestyle and community. In addition to her involvement with Impact Giving, she recently joined the board of Sherman Library and Gardens, a cherished local organization just steps from her home. While she’s built a life she loves in California, she jokes that her next big goal is convincing both of her sons to join her here full time.
Finding the Right Fit
Jennifer was first introduced to Impact Giving during her early years in California while exploring different philanthropic opportunities. What stood out most was the ability to truly get to know organizations before making a deeper commitment.
Impact Giving offered exactly what she was looking for. A thoughtful, hands-on approach to philanthropy, combined with the opportunity to connect with like-minded women.
“It’s an incredible way to learn about so many impactful organizations,” Jennifer shares. “And I’ve always believed the best way to build meaningful friendships is by getting involved with people who share your values.”
A Meaningful Experience
Over the past five years, Jennifer has immersed herself in the Impact Giving community, building relationships and supporting a wide range of nonprofits. She emphasizes that the experience is what you make of it, with countless opportunities to engage through committees, social events, educational programming, and more.
With retirement on the horizon, she’s looking forward to becoming even more involved and taking full advantage of everything the organization offers.
What It Means to Be a Partner
For Jennifer, being a Partner is both empowering and rewarding.
“Impact Giving is exceptionally well run, which isn’t always the case with nonprofits,” she notes. “In many ways, being a Partner feels like being part of a business. We collaborate, make decisions, and actively shape where our collective impact goes.”
From reviewing nonprofits to voting on grants, Partners play a direct role in advancing both the organization’s mission and their own philanthropic goals.
Leadership and Impact
Jennifer has been an active member of the Grant Committee for several years and recently stepped into a leadership role as Committee Chair. While initially daunting, the experience quickly became one of the most rewarding aspects of her involvement.
“It’s incredibly fulfilling to sit alongside a group of thoughtful, passionate women and make decisions that can truly impact lives,” she says. “Our committee came together with curiosity, care, and intention, and it made the entire process so meaningful.”
A Lasting Impression
One of the most impactful moments for Jennifer came from learning about a nonprofit with a simple yet powerful model. The organization collects used bicycles in the United States, ships them abroad, and empowers women to build and run bike repair businesses using the shipping crates themselves. The result is a ripple effect of economic opportunity, transportation access, and educational support for local communities.
“It was such a beautifully executed idea,” Jennifer reflects. “Without Impact Giving, I never would have discovered it.”
